    Unhappy Help! Ridgeline Ameture!

Alright, I've looked for a couple weeks now throughout these forums and I'm finally giving in. I have a ridgeline dilemma! Or maybe a few...

    [The specs: I have a 10' 9" gathered end. I have a 108" ridgeline. The ridgeline itself is made of zing-it 1.75mm.]

1.) Ridgline is tight, standard-guitar-string tight. When I'm in it, I can't get a 90 bend out of it at all. I've tried steeper hang angles, I've tried shallow ones. I've measured over and over.

As I understand from my research on these forums, this is a slightly debated topic. Some don't care too much if it's tight, some have the magical in-between down pat. This leads me too...

2.) I've spent some time, completely comfortable, in this hammock without a ridgeline, but when the tight ridgeline is on, it's almost as if it's holding the middle (the longways middle) of the hammock up. If I lay in a diagonal, my legs drop off.

I've spend so much time being really excited about this project, and I still am! I'm just thoroughly confuddled as to what I'm doing wrong. Anybody out there have any idea what my next step is?!

As if my shoddy photography skills can help, this a picture of the set up.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks.

Looks OK to me. Length is about right and if you're comfy in it, then its right. Is it guitar string tight when you're not in it, or just when you're in it?

Find some paracord and tie 2 tautline hitches in it. Start at 105" and try the hammock out. Adjust +1 inch and try again. Make observations. Lather rinse repeat. When you get to the point you like the best measure the length of the ridgeline. Replicate this length in Zingit if it is different than the 108" you have now.

BTW, where do you currently attach your ridgeline now? On the hammock or on the suspension ?

i will echo geneaut - use some other cordage to temp making a adjustable rl .. overhand loops on the ends of two 100in lines and another overhand loop on one more of the ends then a truckers hitch to tighten is how i made mine.
