What do you do with your doors when not using them?

I don't have a tarp with doors yet but I am looking to get one. I have an 11' Dream Hammock Thunderbird and I am thinking about getting an 11' Hammock Gear standard cuben tarp with doors. If you don't need the doors what do you do: fold them back and tie them, roll them up, or stake them out straight? I only want the doors for rain coverage otherwise I will be in porch mode.

I tuck mine UNDER the tarp, so they don't catch a breeze and I can deploy them without exposing myself. Then I simply guy them to each other.

Since this is my usual configuration, I leave the doors pinned up when storing the tarp. When I get to my campsite and deploy the tarp, the doors are already tucked under.

What do you pin them to? Do you have tie outs on the underside? This sounds like a good idea.

I have a cloudburst and bought separate doors with it for rain and wind... I might eventually buy a mamajama, the doors fit both tarps.

Bottom line, I only take one set of doors when I go out, they're are very light, and only deploy when rain threatens.

Oops, never mind, just noticed you already have a mamajamba, you probably already considered separate doors.

I did look at the door option for the Mamajamba, I just decided I wanted the weight savings of cuben!

I can't say I give much thought to the doors on my HG Winter Palace. When I had the HG Standard, I gave it even less thought. I tried doors in, and doors out, and finally settled on doors out, folded. It's never caused me a problem or even anything to think about.

I've seen people spend an inordinate amount of time on their doors. More power to them, if they have that kind of time.

Shock cord them to each other under the tarp. I run a 30" piece of shock cord w/ a mitten clip off each door and this is about the perfect length for tying them out or stowing them under the tarp.

I do the same. I'm not sure how long my shock cord is, but just clip the hook from one to the shock cord on the other door and they pull taught and up against the inside tarp wall.

+1 on shock cord with small clips (I use the mini-S biners that they sell for keys). I did a video on ways to rig a winter tarp. My shock cords are 28" on the doors.
