standard burrow- is there enough room to tuck it?

I will be ordering a 20° Burrow soon and was wondering about the width. I do like to be able to tuck the sides in around me if needed and I am a side sleeper. Is there enough extra on the standard to do this? I am 5' 10" and 165lbs. I would rather stick with the standard just for weight and bulk reduction as long as I can get the coverage I need. Thanks!

Especially for when you have to go to ground (which always does happen at some point), I would get the wide width. One of the most popular quilt maker (besides HG) is Enlightened Equipment and their standard width is roughly the same as the HG wide width just to give you a comparison (i.e. you'll want that extra width of the wide HG quilt if you ever have to sleep in a tent).

...wish I knew this before I ordered my two HG quilts as I'm a big guy and I would have custom ordered them even wider than their "wide" width.

I'm your size and can't fully tuck it around myself but have never found it to be an issue. The neck has a snap and drawstring which you can sintch up nicely. Find a blanket that is roughly 50" wide and experiment.

I'm 5'11" and have standard Burrows - 0*, 20* and 40* degree with sewn footbox. I find them to be perfectly fine.

I am willing to grant that there is some non-zero chance of having to "go to ground", but I am not sure it makes sense to pick your top quilt width based on that. On the other hand, the weight penalty for a Burrow 20° wide is less than an ounce and a half. So maybe the real question is, how close do you count your grams? Also, your weight seems more important than your height here. I confess that "El Gordo" weighs even less than you do, but, in any event, I find a standard width perfectly fine. Finally, I think you get lots of "tuck" from just being in a gathered-end hammock, but, then, I am not a side sleeper.

I'm not sure how wide a Burrow is, but my top quilts are all 40" wide. At 6'-1" and 200 pounds and a side sleeper, I stay tucked in nicely. That being said, I am a gram weenie and there's no extra width in those quilts.

As to ground dwelling, those quilts need to be significantly wider. So if you plan to camp both on the ground and in the trees, go wide. For me, I'm never going to ground!

Yeah, I'm not really worried about going to ground, I guess I'll just walk further, or if I know I may have to go to ground I'll bring my sleeping bag that time!

I'm 5'9" and 160lb. Plenty to tuck around the sides. I wouldn't call it too much, and would not want to mess with trying a smaller one.

I bought my 20F quilt in wide because I know I want to use it on some trips where I can't hang, but in the hammock it's way too much, the standard is perfect, it let's me tuck in a bit on either side. I'm not ordering any more wide quilts.
