Suspenion rings question, need expert advice.

Would aluminum rings with a tensil strength of 250 lbs be sufficient to support a hammock? Of course there will be 2 rings per end. I'm no engineer, but I assume the 2 combined would yeild over 250 lbs breaking strength.

    Here's what I'm looking at:

How about it DIY engineer experts?

There was an older thread about those slingrings here. That should shed some light on your question.

    Thanks AngrySparrow

There's no end to the info on this site!

I'm gonna try them. They're about 1/3 the cost of the SMG's. 2000 lbs is more than enough.

    Thanks again.

Let me know if I'm missing something, but these sling rings look $0.50 more expensive, each. Take a look at these sellers for decent prices.

I didn't notice that either until after I placed the order. Original thought was just to try 2. To my delight I actually order 4 for the price I thought I was paying for 2.

They also look better then the SMG's. Supposedly the nylon rings are very strong as well. Don't know about the weight.

At one point they had a blurb on their site that said the rings have lifted a 3,000 lb machine. It appears they have since removed that. Probably wise. However, I've not had any problems with ring distortion in the two years I've been using them.
