    Hanging out in Dallas

    Hi folks.

I'm from Dallas. I joined up here since Google told me this is the place to go for all things hammocks.

Since I found hf, I've made my own suspension systems, bug nets, tarps and hammocks. So, thanks Fronkey. And everyone else.

I'm new to camping in Texas. Hard to find a good secluded place to hang, especially with all this rain.

    Anyhow, I'll be around.

Welcome from Florida! Try to stay dry by hanging above all that water.

Thanks for the heads up, but I'm not sure we're up for all that just yet. Although, we're new to Texas and new to camping in general - it would be nice to meet some new folks. I just bought camping stuff for the first time this spring (mostly backpacking stuff), and its been a hit with everyone but my daughter. I bought a Grand Trunk double on a whim and we loved it - thats why I'm here looking at DIY stuff.

We've been camping and fishing and kayaking and canoeing at state parks every time I get a chance, but its all new to me and I confess I don't know the first thing about catching a fish or paddling or tents. Fishing in particular vexes me.

Hello from Rockwall. Live on lake Ray Hubbard do alot of kayaking . My 14 year old daughter not much into camping. I try to hang about every weekend. Have 28 acres in Scurry in between Kaufman and Ennis heavly wooded, great for hammocking. Ever feel the need for some private hang give me a holler. Do a little stealth camping from time to time. We also do alot of shooting. If we can be of any assistance let me know. Happy hanging.

That is a mighty generous offer, karbo. I'm in Forney, and it would be great to have somewhere to hang.

I work at least 2 weekends a month, usually, and when I do get out I usually have the wife and at least 2 of the youngins with me. I'm hoping I can get out and hang more this summer on week days.

I love kayaking, but I don't have any boats yet and I don't know if I'm going to buy one. I've been renting them at state parks when I can. So far Purtis Creek primitive camping area has been my favorite, but its been closed since the rain got serious.

I also do a little shooting. I only have handguns, though, and I've only been to a couple ranges - target masters and the gun zone.
