Ah, now I get it. The secret to an active thread is tossing in a lil Greek mythology. Who knew??!! Perhaps we'll stick daveysnowis with the trail name of Bellerophon in honor of this tradition.

Thanks for moving this Wisconsin Hang along. It will be neat to see different set-ups.
Perhaps a list of who is going ( For Sure / Maybe ) would help. Could even use a spreadsheet of what people are bringing might be useful, although I do not know how to make one.
I have been lurking a long time. This will be my first group hang. Ten mile hike might need to be massaged into something shorter. Who knows???
Will be at Ranger Station Friday noon. Willing to help stage / shuttle vehicles and personnel as needed. Old black Ford Explorer.
Tumbleweed is "IN" for this.
Soo, we have dates and location, Awesome!! A large vehicle for moving guys and gear, great!!
Lists are always good, but I too have no clue how to get a spreadsheet going. Maybe those attending, or planning to, can give a rundown of what they're bringing. Are we talking gear or food?? Potluck or comparing equipment??
As far as the mileage goes, there are plenty of places to park a vehicle (sticker or no sticker) to cut down the length of the hike.
As has been mentioned, depending on the weather, water could be an issue. Stashing some at a strategic location, or two, might be a good idea!
Have had trouble with group spreadsheets on my iPad in the past. Thus I can't make one for y'all, else I would. Red S-10 with cap and State Park sticker (and National Forest sticker) that can shuttle more gear than people. Might be able to hit the ranger station not much after noon on Friday. We'll see as it gets closer.
As far as shorter hikes go, here's a few thoughts:
For Saturday it is roughly 3 miles each from shelter #2 to Horserider's camp, HRC to Bald Bluff parking lot, BB p-lot to shelter #3 or John Muir trailhead.
For Sunday it is roughly 3 miles from shelter #3 to the Hwy 12/Sweno Rd p-lot then roughly 5 miles to WWL (Whitewater lake ranger station). Not really any good places to stash a vehicle between the Hwy 12 p-lot and WWL.
If hiking is not your thing, just drive from shelter #2 to shelter #3. That way you can still hang with us, listen to and tell stories, see different hammocking setups and hiking loadouts then discuss the ins and outs of each plus enjoy the campfires.
It's 0.31 miles or 546 yards from the p-lot to shelter #2. It's 0.15 miles or 265 yds from where the IAT crosses Duffin Rd to shelter #3. Yes you can park on Duffin Rd and dayhike the IAT. Really ought to let the rangers know if overnighting on Duffin Rd. Or your vehicle can overnight at the John Muir/Nordic Skiiing p-lots. About 1 mile from the John Muir trailhead to shelter #3.
Anyhow, with several of us going, if people speak up and let us know in this thread (or PMs), we can figure out which lots to have vehicles at. Therefore anyone need walk only as far as they desire.
As long as those desires happen to fall within a range from 250 yards to 11 miles that is.
Easy peasey, pudding and pie. Something for everyone of all ages and skill levels.

Hey Dux,
I will be at the Shelter #2 Ranger Station / parking lot noonish Friday. Older Ford Explorer. Going to give-er and hike till Whitewater Lake parking area. Am willing to move the vehicle as needed. Looking forward to your opinions on staging / shuttleing vehicles. Also, anyone needing a ride needs only ask.
Bellerophon is going to get there early. Bellerophon is excited.
If anybody is coming from the madison area and would like to share a ride, let me no.
That's the spirit! My 20+mile days are behind me as well. You are an inspiration to us all.
Now, who is up for through hiking the IAT from Shelter #2 to Lapham Peak??
As mentioned before if through hiking is not your thing, well come on out and dayhike with us. If hiking at all is not your thing, throw up your hammock at the shelter and greet us when we arrive. Having S'mores ready would be nice!
Absolutely!! Now or on the trail. Though we'd prefer now. You bring up a good point Tumbleweed as there has been no discussion of carpooling so far. If there is the need or desire, now would be the time to let it be known. Post in this thread or PM any of the participants, whichever you are most comfortable with.
