Close enough to you to make a day trip worthwhile. Come on out for the hike, or hang out around the campfire later in the day, if you can't do the entire weekend.

Looks to me like your geared up well enough to spend the night though

Was wondering where you had disappeared to Mixter. That 'splains it! Last year was like that for me so I'm trying to make up for lost woods time this year. We'll save a seat around the campfire in case you show up.

Vacation was approved. I'm off all day on Friday 7/31 so you can count on me to get down to the FHQ and help with staging vehicles and caching water on Friday. Also, that Friday night is a full moon.

Looks like I'll be late Fri nite, or bright and early Sat morning. Family obligations, Fri makes more sense than hustling to get home by 1:00 Sun afternoon.

    Quick Update

    Thanks for the updates fellas!

So it looks like BananaHammock, Daveysnowis, Dux, Skwatupu and Tumbleweed will be there noonish/early afternoon on Friday. Goobie will join us Friday evening or Saturday morning. Mixter might join us at either shelter for a bit.

We'll put Skwatupu and Tumbleweed's vehicles at the WWL campground overflow lot. Daveysnowis' vehicle at Duffin Rd near S3. Everyone else can park in the FHQ lot. Since the FHQ closes at 4:30pm and we'll be there noonish, we'll go inside and let them know where and how long the vehicles will be there. Really only important at the Duffin Rd spot because the FHQ and WWL lots are used to overnight parking. Having your license plate number, the vehicle make and color handy will make things go smoothly.

Temps look like they'll climb into the high 70s/low 80s soon. Relatively cool for this time of year which is really nice. Skeeters might get a tad more persistent with the higher temps so DEET and ThermaCells are handy to have along. I usually Permethrin just about everything I'm carrying.

I know a place nearby to get firewood and will cache some of that near both shelters. Sounds like I should bring a little more for Shelter #2 than I was originally planning since most of us will be there early. Easy enough. Thinking I might bring a cooler and have "real food" Friday evening then since the walk from the FHQ is pretty easy and we'll have plenty of time to cook and jaw jack.

Anyone need me to bring an extra camp chair or two? There are benches at S2 but I prefer a backrest if I can get it. S3 has a picnic table we can pull out by the fire and benches inside.

    3-1/2 weeks!!

Looking forward to this fellas. I haven't stretched my legs on a 10 mile joint since my Army days!
