Question Question about bedroom hang placement. (I look at other posts before posting)

Here's my problem I have an odd shaped room and I've been trying to find a good location to place a hammock. Something tells me that this location is not a good place to put a hook but I thought I would see what the community's opinion is. I figure someone out there must have tried it before. I've tried everything to get a good nights sleep and nothing is working so hopefully this will be what works. Thanks in advance for taking the time to look this over and thank you for the information.

    First or second floor?
Knock on it. If it makes a solid sound and not a hollow sound. That's a good sign.

If its on the first floor and sounds solid. I would do a test drill. If all seems well! Go for it.

knock first to find the solid sound.then the drill test is the best way to find both ends of the stud. i always use a coat hanger because they don't leave too big of a hole. if your wanting to sleep here for an extended period then you want to make sure that your anchor is dead center of your stud.

That section between windows is rarely structural and not likely to hold the forces being placed on it by a hammock. You're right to be nervous about hooking to that. My 2 cents is find a different way.
    Mind over matter,
if you don't mind, it don't matter

It's on the second floor. If I remember correctly there's 5 pieces of 2x4 stacked side by side behind the one visible piece. What I was thinking about doing was reinforcing the top, bottom and middle by throwing in a few wood screws. Thanks for the reply. I didn't want to wake up with the windowed view of my ceiling :3

That coat hanger thing isn't a bad idea lol. I've never heard of that before. I was just going to go up to the shop and grab one of the stud finders we have.I've never tried to use a stud finder on plaster before so this will be interesting. I think I found another location its at the very end of the window I'm sure there's a stud behind it. we'll see the hammock am going to use comes in tomorrow and they have to move a couple of shelves before I hang it.

That is the part that was making me nervous. I was just telling sunny bear that I am pretty sure I found another anchor point. I honestly don't know why I didn't think about it before. Maybe it's because I've been up for two days who knows lol

There is irony in there somewhere. That's not a bad idea I would rather land on the bed then fall roughly 20 inches to the floor. Thanks for the info.
