Amazonas Traveller Cord Mod?

Hello all! This is my first post and I'm so thankful for the wisdom you all have offered through your threads! I've learned a lot and already made my first purchase from Dutch!

I have an older Byer Amazonas Traveller Hammock with those nasty, easily-tangled cords extending from the edge of the fabric (see below). Any ideas on a mod for this that would still offer the length that the cords offer (the hammock is about 85" of fabric) but get rid of the existing cordage? My guess is it would not be practical to make a gathered end hammock due to the short length of the fabric.

What king of cord is on it now? You could change it out with some light stuff.

I found that putting a single slip knot in them when packing up keeps them from getting tangled until they come out again.

Good idea! I have been doing that and it does work. I'm wondering if there is another option to replace those cords.

I'm not exactly sure - paracord, it seems. I suppose I'll try some mods without removing the existing cords and see what I can create!
