    $50 Tarp?

I'm looking for the best tarp I can buy for around $50 to give as a B-day gift for my boys. Any ideas? 11' gathered end hammocks

You didn't state helpful variables like car camping or backpacking, fair weather or four seasons come-what-may. Still, either of these will do either of those.

The Chinook 12'x9'6" can be had in dark green or tan for $37... when it is in stock.

Kelty Noah's 12'. Currently $70 at Amazon, was $58 last week. Catch a sale and get it as low as $52.

See post #10 for storm mode with lots of room. The numerous tie outs yield a lot of pitching options.

What is the length of the hammock if they are using one? Hammock bliss has an all purpose shelter for 50 bucks.
Kelty noah could work. Pahaque makes one cheap. Ultimate Survival Technologies B.A.S.E. hex tarp is 39.00. There is also Eno who makes them but not for 50.00...more like 70-80.

    Chinook tarps are another option.

Snugpak all weather shelter is around the $50.00 price range, 9'x9' square, 2 pounds and packs small.

I keep a Chinook tarp around. It's not ultralight by no means. On a three day trip I strap it to the bottom of my pack(where a sleeping bag would go) and I don't notice it there and it has good coverage. I want to say amazon had it for either around $50 or a little less.

Kelty 9X9 under 50 or the 12X12 for I think 54. Try Amazon I just received 2 12X12 kelty tarps. They seem a little heavy but look to be well made. I am planning on trying them out this weekend. I went with 12X12 in order to cover 2 hammocks. Good luck

If they're going to hang in mostly fair weather, the yukon outfitters tarps are on sale on woot pretty often for $20. I have one and it works just fine

Love my Kelty 9. The 12 gives you more options, but it's probably out of the $50 price range though it is a fantastic tarp.

The 9 hung on the diagonal covers even my largest hammock with room to spare. Snug it down low and tight and it can handle some brutal weather.

My 9 on the left over my 11 foot hammock, my 12 on the right over my daughter's 10 foot hammock.
