    Video dirt roads to Figueroa

Easy fun couple of days, mostly dirt roads. After setting up camp we ended up taking a five hour ride up and down every dirt road and jeep trail we could find before dinner. Next morning, checked out a few more spots as we wandered home.

    Lesson learned this trip
Even a long clothesline can’t make cotton quick drying

    As always, Will

nice roads! Thanks for the RR. Glad to see more moto camping stuff lately. Just did a 3 day Moto camping in northern new mexico on my DR650, mostly paved though
Somewhat new to dirt and riding solo I don't have the confidence of being out there by myself on the trails in case something happens, unless I know the trails. If I ride with someone else than as much dirt as possible! And yes, no cotton!!!!
I have the same forma boots! What do you use for rain pants? I love my Klim Dakar pants and am looking for some cheap, light, rain over pants that will FIT over the boots, seems like most rain pants are not large enough to fit over MC boots.

Thanks everybody for the kind words.
Locally there are some single tracks that lead to camp spots. Next time out I’ll try to capture the seclusion and joy a half days trail ride can bring. The folks with blisters from hiking boots need to see the crashes that dirt biking affords.

As for rain pants ymmv. For me my frogg toggs street gear works fine.

during the ride seen in this video but not captured on film
    John crashed once
square one crashed twice. Although he refers to it as inconvenient parking. To be fair we were in a play area when both of his crashes took place. He also claims I caused the first one?
Me (I’m so proud) no crashes this trip, did have to dab but only once.

Haven't got that figured but weight isn't as big of a concern as bulk is. A little more weight on the back and it's easer to wheelie. I had loaded down heavy last year and all it would do was wheelie under hard acceleration. Had to rethink that, ended up wearing a backpack. That worked all right, when I sat down pack weight rested on stuff tied to rear rack

I hear you on the bulk issue, went through that at first with synthetic quilts plus Kelty 12x12 tarp. Switched to the high speed low drag backpacking down and other gear. The bonus in down sizing is a drop in weight that makes the bike more of a pleasure to ride IMO (metal knees). Since hanging out among these walkers I have caught the multiple use and reduce unnecessary extra kit bug. Must be from reading all these compulsive gram counter posts...brings out the inner list checker.
