MamaSmurf just called on her way back from the doctor's office. Stress fractures in 2 different bones. Looks like she is gonna be rockin that boot for a few more weeks and must stay off of it as much as possible.

When she gets home I'm gonna recommend less shopping and more sewing to aid in her recovery.
    Wish me luck!

Be careful you don't end up with a cast or two of your own.

Nah, I just really enjoy giving her a hard time.
Truth is she's not only my wife, best friend and business partner, she's about the only one willing to put up with me.

Mama, some advice if you don't mind: If they say stay off it, stay off it. Also your cam boot, like mine will probably manage your weight through your heel. After a while that's going to get (very) uncomfortable. I got a gel shoe insert with a thick heel pad and put in my boot, note NOT and arch support, just a gel cushy pad. That made it tolerable, but I still couldn't walk for more than 30-45 min at a time. Your podiatrist can show you a stretch to help with that heel pain if it doesn't get better.

As for the healing, there's a rule called the 80/20 rule. 80% of your pain should go away within 6/8 weeks, but you man manage 20% or so of you pain for about 80% of the total time you manage the injury, so don't get discouraged if you get a lot better then level out.

Take care of your other foot. It's bearing a lot of the load now, so do make sure you have proper arch support. Maybe ask your doc about a powerstep insert. They are the medical grade version of a arch support you might get at wally world, but while dr. shoals are about $50, a powerstep from a dr is only about $30-40 and MUCH better. Having a good insert in my other shoe while in the boot likely kept it healthy while I was hobbeling around for 5 months.

Keep a squirt pistol in your back pocket and if anyone calls you "hop along" hobbles, or any thing else....you train them like you train a cat...little squirt of water to change the "bad" behavior goes a long way and is safe and humane LOL

Thanks MrJaw14....The pain in my ankle (fibula bone) is somewhat better, but other areas in my foot are hurting some now, Im sure different tendons/ligaments are pulling and stretching. The boot is rubbing on the inside of my ankle, so we went out and got some foam to stuff around inside the boot. (whine whine whine...haha) I already wear orthodics, so I hope my other foot will be good
