    North Georgia recon trip

This past Saturday, I decided to do a little recon trip to North Georgia to check out some potential camping sites. We stopped at a couple of sites near Clayton, had lunch, goofed off, had dinner, goofed off some more, stopped for milk shakes, and then headed back to the house.

Um … this doesn’t look quite right. If I tried it this way, I would break my nose.

While cooking lunch, some dark clouds drifted over and we felt a few sprinkles. After those clouds moved on, it turned out to be a perfect day.

Looking for rocks to skip. For some reason, the best skipping rocks must be in the deeper water.

Creek side hang. Not a bad way to judge the rock skipping contests.

Is that how you get two people in a double layer hammock?

Kids, sunshine and water, perfect mix. My youngest manages to find a lot of dirt and sticks as well

Not a bad idea. I wonder how big the snake skin will have to be to squeeze in one hammock with two kids?

It was nice, although it was in the splash zone. The pool at the base of the leaning tree was the deepest in that section of the creek. It came up to just above the belt line of my 9 year old. No diving and no cannonballs, but splashes still reached me.

They all picked out walking sticks to keep (until they get turned into fire pit pokers).

What a great way to spend time with your family. I used to like to skip rocks when I was a kid, but haven't done that for years. Maybe I need to try it again.

    Thanks for sharing.
