Nice job and if you put end caps on, it will keep the rain from going down inside a rusting out the stand

Good idea. Been thinking about repurposing parts of a bed frame for similar.

Nice mod, simple but strong. I can see many nights looking at the stars in Jersey.

Nice modification. I am looking to extend the height of my similar looking u-shaped hammock stand, too.
There's a thread about using re-purposed muffler exhaust pipes, but I'm not sure I want to go that route.

From your video, you said that you got a 10' piece of 2" galvanized pipe, which was cut in half.
On the extension, you drilled two holes, one 4" down from the top and the other is 16" from the bottom.
In the top hole, you added an eyebolt and in the bottom hole, you've inserted a long bolt.

Is the long bolt above the original arm (preventing the extension from slipping down),
or does the long bolt go through the extension as well as the original arm?

I think I'd like a shorter extension, as I have limited horizontal hanging space. What would you suggest as a minimum extension length?
