    North Country Trail....St. Ignace northward.

Hi, I have been intrigued for some reason about this stretch of the NCT. Has anyone been on it? The section from St. Ignace north to Lake Superior is about 120 miles long. I am looking to do it this summer, early fall, and it will be my first hang. Any info is appreciate.

    Tom,
There is a YouTube video made by a young man that solo hiked that section in 2011. if you'd like to watch that search YouTube for "Solo hike the North Country Trail" I am dreaming real hard of a 30 day hike across the U.P. NCT in 2016.

    Hi REV,

That video is what lit my fire a few months ago. I am from Bay City, and would like to do part of that sometime. The wife and I are heading up to Pictured Rocks in July,...maybe I can do a "little" bit of scouting.

Get in touch with HF member Donk. He did part of that NCT leg in May and posted a trip report. Always wanted to do that section someday.

, I hiked a small section of the trail first week of May. Hiked from Brevort River to East Lake before road walking to Trout Lake and on to Pine River. It was a fun hike and I plan to hike more of it in the future. Some nice country up there. If you haven't already, check out Hiawatha shore to shore chapter of NCTA. And purchase the section maps as they are useful. Ticks and black flies were bad in May, so early fall is probably better time to hike it.

I'd be all over this if it were a loop. Or if I had someone in the area to drive me back. How much does a 1hr taxi ride cost

My buddy and I looked into doing the St. Ignace to Grand Marais leg of the NCT. It's a long haul at around 160 miles and it's probably a 10-14 day trip. I looked into Trailspotters for transport and it was about $220 total. It would be an awesome trip though. Donk_67 and I are looking at a 4 day leg somewhere up there this fall....
