Palmetto State Hangers is proud to announce the next annual Swamp Butt Hang, taking place July 16 - 19 at Primitive Sites 4 & 5 in Dreher Island State Park in Newberry, SC.
It's hot, it's sweaty, and it's on an island (that you can drive on to). Bring your swim trunks, your canoe or kayak, and whatever else you've got to help you beat the triple digit summer heat this year as we celebrate the fact that we live in the hot, hot south with a camping trip that only crazy people are willing to attend. This, however, IS an important hang for supporting (ie: dues paid or awarded through promotions) members of Palmetto state Hangers as this is the hang where you get to vote on who leads the club moving forward. With Paulie stepping down as VP this year, there's a vacancy that NEEDS to be filled (and we have two nominees already). Otherwise, Dawn and I are automatically in the running but if you're interested in holding the position of President or Treasurer, throw your name in the hat on the Facebook page!
If you feel like cooking a meal for the group to share, please denote that on the sign up spreadsheet. Otherwise, it's a bring-your-own vittles type of event and from personal experience, I recommend food that doesn't have to be cooked! There is water at the entrance to the group sites, but you'll need some sort of container to carry it down the road.
Members, as always, camp free. Non-members of Palmetto State Hangers are asked to contribute $5 per person to help offset costs.
