Smile Argon and Costco Down UQ

    50"x70" (full length for me @ 5'4")

    Dutch Argon90 shell
Costco pillow fill, using the entire kingsize pillow.
2 1/2" baffle material from Dutch
    3" loft approximately.
    8 hours work including filling.
heat cut the A90 with my soldering iron.
Used the shopvac/mesh method to fill.

It's big, and weighs about 2# but, I'm using it for boy scouts and rarely will be carrying it more than a couple miles, so I'm not too concerned with the weight.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the argon90 from dutch, it feels so nice, and it's great to work with.

I used a costco down pillow and after some research it seems to be 650FP. The pillow I picked up had 32oz of it for 40.00. It was good clean down too, very few feathers. A pretty fair deal at a little over a dollar an ounce.

Their premium firm pillow online, King or Queen, size K=20x36", Q=20x28", states 550 fp. Cost is $99 plus shipping. No specs on weight. So how muchdown do you get or how do you approximate oz of down per pillow? Nice looking quilt by the way!!!

Im not sure if they were on sale here or if they offer a different variety in the stores but i got mine for 40.00 with 32oz fill. After contacting the manufacturer they stated it was 650 down. It was a great deal!

I have to agree, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the argon90 from dutch, it feels so nice, and it's great to work with. I keep buying chunks of the Argon, for projects, I should have bought a bolt way back when Dutch started selling it.

    Great job on the UQ.

    Thanks all!

Pillow was $40 at the store, and states 600fp on the packaging. Not spectacular, but I'm not going for top-of-the-line either. There are a few campouts/camporees that the scouts do from late fall into early spring and I was cold with my other diy altered uq, an old rei mummy that I altered. This will definitely keep me warmer and even better in my double hammock supplemented with a pad.
