As far as the approach trail. Have not given it a lot of thought yet. If I do it from below the falls though then next fall I will just start at the beginning of the trail. No since in climbing that staircase twice, at least that is how I feel at the moment.

No stairs, no stairs at all.

It's Funny how 8+ miles is not considered part of the AT I guess it's a Peak to Peak thing but unless you start at the FS road you have to hike the 8 miles to get there.

I'm leaning more towards starting at springer but we have time to hash that out.
    Thanks,
    Sam

You can get dropped off at the fs road walk about .9ths of a mile to the top/start of Springer Mountian sign the book and start that way.

Or you can start with an appetizer hike to the Hike Inn from above the falls (and stairs), and then less than 5m to Springer from there.

I'd like to go! I've been wanting to explore the GA section of the AT. So far I've done the loop up the the Hike Inn a few times, and I've been up in the Three-Forks area a couple of times. I did about 100 miles on the BMT last year, mainly overnights though. I've never done more than a three day trip, so this would be a lot of fun!
