    Rainfly ridge line

New member with a newbie question.

I'm making 2 winter tarps for my son and I to use with WBBB's. I've got the silnylon and other material but am curious about the ridge line. Is their any reason to run a full length ridge line versus just using tie outs from the ends?

a continuous ridgeline makes it easier to center the tarp over your hammock. I have used both a continuous and non-continuous, and prefer the continuous.

I personal like the full length as I feel it allows for adjusting the position of the tarp easily.

Many like the easier centering ability (tarp over hammock) of the continous ridgeline.Personally I find it just as easy to center mine using two seperate lines as I set my tarp. It is really just options and personal choice.

Wow, quick answers. I don't think centering the rain fly is going to be much of an issue, could be wrong I skapose. I picked up some LoopAliens for lateral adjustment as needed. In hindsight, perhaps I'm a little apprehensive about putting too much tension on tie out points. The tarp is being based off the diygear winter tarp plans.

Shug, very animated video It really clears up above tarp full length ridgeline, adjustment and tension. My hearing really sucks, so demonstrating the knots rather than just stating what they were was a godsend.

I use both the crl from arrowhead equipment and Dutch stingerz for hanging tarps. Both are pretty easy to center over the hammock. I find that I use the crl more often. Ymmv

I tried the CRL. I prefer the individual tie-outs. I found that my Prussia (or prussiks. Dang auto correct.) slipped too easily on the zing-it CRL. It probably works better with a thicker cord.

I've also never had that much trouble centering my tarp. It may take an extra adjustment, but no more than 60 seconds... To each there own. Try both!

I prefer a CRL under the tarp. In adverse weather it seem to give it more strength from sagging without putting a ton of tension on the end of the tarp.
Just as important to me is the ease of loosening the head end and pulling the tarp out of the way toward the feet end. I do this often in clearer weather during dusk and pulling it up back to cover the hammock before sleep.
Ease of centering it is a bonus.
