    Hi Montexan, yes i purchased my beanie from our neighbours across the ditch in NZ.
    The common brushtail possum is a introduced pest species in New Zealand,
    where they are public enemy No:1 and can be hunted....why waste a resource of
    meat & fur when they make such fine stews & nice warm beanies.
    Our Aussie possums are protected though.

    I knew they were a pest in NZ and TAS, but didn't know the native ones were protected. But you have your own 50-million-strong problem. I've read great things about possum fur: super soft and light, durable, won't pill and the cost is pretty reasonable. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be imported into the states much (shipping is about $20+ USD for just a couple merino blend skeins). So I dig the hat. I'm always on the lookout for a strange-sourced wool-hat--one day I'll bite the bullet and buy some Qiviuk for a helmet liner.
