Perfect. Would a New River be warm enough for a 3 season quilt?

Yes, it would. I have used mine down into the lows 30s with no problems at all.

Please note that your results may be different than mine! Everyone does not sleep the same. Others are colder at night. Please test your gear before getting into a situation where you have no backup gear! This is why I didn't put temp ranges on the KAQ website.

The lowest I have gotten with mine is about 47 (hasn't gotten any colder here since I got it), but I was very comfortable, used a fleece blanket as a top quilt. I agree with MrPrez, that mid 30s is easily doable. If dressed right, I can see 30 or lower, at least for ME.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.

Absolutely, YMMV. It helps to have a ball park idea though. Unless you're an Eskimo or an equatorial resident we should be relatively close. I sleep pretty warm, so as long as I have something to retain the heat well, I'm good.
