    Hello from steamy South Carolina

Greetings all. I'm currently living down here in the hot and humid Lowcountry, just outside of Charleston in a little burg known as Hanahan. Transplanted here 25 years ago, but have spent time in the Rockies, in southern Nevada, and the Appalachians. Been a casual hangar for a while now, but am looking to branch out into hammock camping. Have a buddy trying to prep for a thru hike of the AT, and want to head out with him as time allows. Interested in hearing from any folks who hammock camp and have to deal with sleep apnea, and what you do to get away from the machine. So far, I've been blown away by all the great info on this forum, and I look forward to learning much more and perhaps one day contributing something of worth myself.

Another welcome from your NC neighbors. Being on the border, I've gotten to enjoy some great hospitality from the Palmetto State Hangers. I hope to catch you at a hang.

By the way, where did you spend time at in Southern NV? I spent several summers in Overton when I was younger.

Welcome. I can't help you on the turbo sleep machine, but my back pain goes away in my hammock. The Fall Sprawl is the one to hit in September. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...l-Sprawl-2015! Hope to see you there.

Welcome from NJ ,, i will trade you the jersey air for the SC air any day, every time we visit SC they have to drag me out, love it down there and some day will move down once life allows.
There are quite a few threads on here that address sleep apnea and the machines other use,, here is one i found.

Welcome from James Island. I do know that before I lost ~70 lbs and had moderate sleep apnea my hammock was probably the best non-machine sleep that I could get. Even then I would still wake up at times gasping for air. Now that I've lost the weight I no longer have to use the machine at all. You won't sleep as well as on the machine, but it will be way better than on the ground!

Thanks. Just found the calendar. I'll have to check my schedule for the upcoming school year to see if it's doable. If so, I'll see you there.

We lived in Boulder City. Dad was stationed at Lake Mead National Rec. Area at the time. Loved the desert.
