Nervous and happy / Woodsman X

Okay I just jumped into the deep end and a few minutes ago I bought the Woodsman X single layer. It's a lot of money (!!!) and here in my tiny country there is no place to try ANY hammock before I buy, so it's all down to reading and viewing YT vids.

I am bloody nervous about my first quality hammock buy and I hope I will get my money's worth out of it. Those shipping rates and currency conversion rates are totally merciless .

But I am also excited about it and can't wait to get it . Well, I will have to wait because the shop is closed until the end of the month and there is a 5 week waiting period after that. Why oh why did Mat go on an expedition, just right now when I ordered one of his hammocks .

    Excited Martin

    Hi Martin,
Checkout Torben's videos on hammocking or as we know him BlazeAway.
He does not post here any more but if you could locate him he lives just north of you in Denmark he would be an excellent source for hammock info and experience.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it mate

I got one recently and its my current "weapon of choice" . Its very comfy for me and lightweight too, i dont bother with the adjustable foot sag cord thing it seems just fine without it (in all honesty i dont see what the cord does. You lie in it and the foot sag is there without attaching the cord)
maybe it just fits me As it is and you might find it different

I would reccomend their EDC hammock too. Very cheap and a fantastic seat, gear shelf, or general lounger

It doesn't really show you much but heres a pic of my woodsman x with EDC above

Hi Sunndog. That looks like an excellent setup and I am very glad to hear you are enjoying your Woodsman X. That makes me bit less nervous . I did have a look at the EDC hammock, but seeing as that, for me, isn't a very important piece of equipment, I think it's easier for me to make it myself if I think I need it. I do have to mind my budget :-)

i think they call it "buyers remorse" don't they?

anyways, meant to add this bit above
comfort and preference are obviously very personal but the woodsman is a well thought out piece of kit and the workmanship and service from mat is spot on
that UQ in the pic above is from uk hammocks too and i'v not seen a wonky stitch on any of their kit
Got a hammock chair from them too lol

Hope that puts your nerves at rest a bit

Yeah buyers remorse is correct LOL. I have extremly limted funds, so I need to be a bit of a Scrooge and suchs a buy I want to do only once for the coming years :-).

Now all I have to do is wait and wait and wait. But I do appreciate the information you provide though. I am a bit of a stickler for details and wonky stiches etcetera always put me off. I like good quality and am very precise with my equipment so it last me a long time.

I have had a woodsman X double for over a year and find it very comfortable but I am a little on the short side (5' 4"). I also have their winter underquilt and they fit together well and is toasty warm down to -4 so far so I think you have made a good choice with your hammock.

I am quit a bit taller than you high-peak. I am 6.00/6.03 but I talked to Mat about this and also to Derek from The Ultimate Hang and it shouldn't be a problem according to them. My self made hammock is the same size as the Woordsman X and fits me fine :-)
