I used plans from Risk ( http://www.imrisk.com/hammockstand/hammockstand.htm ) to make a hammock stand for winter experiments indoors.
Modifications: mine is 6ft tall instead of Risk's 5ft. I used treated wood so I could take it outdoors eventually. I made two notches on the top corners of the uprights to form a small post so the huggers would work better. Total cost of project $42 and 3 hours work.
