    Equinox egret 8x10 big enough?

I hope I'm not getting annoying posting these threads asking for peoples input, but here it is: I have a DL 11' hammock on the way from dutch, and I only have an equinox egret 8x10 tarp. With sag in the hammock will the tarp be enough to cover it? I always fly it "A-Frame" style over my grand trunk, which is 10'6" and it does fine. Although with a rectangular tarp I'm not sure there's any other way to fly it. Thanks for your help.

10 foot ridgeline on a tarp is a little short for my liking, but it should still cover. Hang it up and try it out! You could hang it diagonally from the corners too.

Thanks! Just wanted to know asap so if I had to order a new one it would have time to arrive before my upcoming camping trip. I'll definitely try it out when it comes in the mail!

You could set a ridgeline on your grand trunk to the length it should be on the the new hammock (about 110 inches) and put that under the tarp to see how it would fit. The sag would be different but end coverage would be the same.

Hang it on the diagonal. An 8X10 should have 12.8' diagonal ridgeline. Plenty of room for an 11' hammock with an 83% structural ridgeline ( roughly 9 feet ).

Accepted 'wisdom' is you want a foot of clearance on each end of your hammock/tarp combo. In bad weather you probably really want a little more.
