    Appalachian Trail

I have heard that there is a planned Appalachian Trail hang from 1-10 October. Did a search here but can't find info on it. My fault I'm sure. If anyone knows about it please help direct me to the post. I intend to start a thru hike next Spring and have been looking for another opportunity to work out the kinks with hammocks on the AT. I only have one 5 day experience on the AT using a hammock, all the rest of my time on the AT has been in a tent. Really liked the hammock but did have a few minor issues. If there is going to be a hike this would be a great time for me to learn from all of you with far more experience in long term hanging. Thanks.

I think you're talking about this post?

From Jacksonville native to another , if you're familiar with hammock camping then you'll have no problems. I've done about 400 miles of section hiking on the AT with my wife and I've always used my hammock and never had any problems. I've done from Springer to NC's Deep Gap, and from NC's Hot Springs up to middle Virginia.

In fact, I'd say I had it much easier than my wife since I could more easily pick a spot to hang -- she was always searching for high and flat ground.
