I'm pushing 40 and have over 21 years in the Navy and I've recently gotten back into camping because of my son's Boy Scout involvement and it has inspired me to do more and tackle some bigger hikes. A few of the dad's in the troop are already hanging and I'm a little envious and ready to get off of the ground. I'm into the MYOG/DIY scene and I have a background in Auto Upholstery from a few decades ago, and I'm trying my hand at making my first hammock. I'll keep you posted!

Black shoe... did a little time at Dam Neck at the school house back at Norfolk now... I got to spend a week on the USS Constitution a few years back, they made it abundantly clear they didn't want us in the Hammocks, but I could imagine. Looking forward to some time in the trees and off the ground!!!
I've often wondered how skate that USS Constitution duty was?
I got lucky and went during CPO induction and it was a lot of marching through Boston, but it was probably one of the best weeks I've had in the Navy! We had to sleep on the deck, something about sleeping on the original oak floors gets you all motivated. Mad props to the Sailors stationed on the ship, they have to give tours throughout the day to anyone who shows up. They made our trip memorable with the amount of knowledge and history they were able to pass onto us. I don't think the duty would qualify as skate but it would rank up there with worthwhile.
