With all the dry weather and fires in CA this year, anyone know of a place maybe near Tahoe that would work for a quick maybe 5 mile in and out overnight?

Desolation Valley. Heard a report that lakes were only down a little there. I just did a 1.2 in and out to Shealor Lake (Hwy 88 near Silver Lake)IMG_20150821_165113304_HDR (2).jpgIMG_20150822_092745418 (2).jpg. Lake was fantastic.

Hey popping corn, also a Tracy resident. El Pescadero park in Tracy has enough closely spaced mature trees for about 8 hammocks to hang out together. We set it up with 4 hammocks one time and just hung out while the kids went to the playground and had fun. It isn't exactly peaceful due to the nearness of the skate park, but it is still a fun place to hang around.

I'm going to head out either Friday night or Saturday morning solo and hopefully do some backpacking with the hammock. Did you need reservations at Shealor Lake to camp?
