Thanks for the comments everyone! So far, it seems to be a toss-up. Which is exactly what I had expected....

I have the Hudson river with the omni tape and love it...
there is string at the end of the omni tape to tie the quilt off so it won't pull apart on you

look at it this way....with the omni tape you have more options....

I have a Hudson River and a Stealth that I use as top quilts. I have never felt the omnitape in the footbox or had it come apart while in use.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I just placed my order for the Hudson River. After deliberating fo a while, I decided to go with the regular (omnitape & drawcord) footbox, since it seemed to be the more flexible option. The Hudson River should take me down to the coldest temperatures I hike in, and since it might be overkill in some situations, I wanted to have the option of eliminating the footbox entirely and just using it as one would a blanket or comforter.

    Top Quilt

Good thread. Thanks everyone for the info. I am on the market for a top quilt. The Hudson River is looking good right now. Especially since it's on Sale!

I've got the Old Rag Mountain which is the same as the Hudson River but with more down. I have the omni tape/drawstring footbox and it works great. The thing I like about the omni tape is if my quilt gets a little damp with condensation I can open it up all the way and lay it out flat for quicker drying.

I got the No Sniv with the full omni tape as I carry the JRB lightweight pad with the corresponding omni tape in the pad pocket of my Starlite pack (where its part of the pack suspension) just in case I have to bail on the hammock and hit the ground some night. I've never noticed the tape while sleeping, however. Also the footbox has always been there in the morning. Here in Colorado it gets chilly at night even in the summer so maybe I can't feel the omni tape 'cause I usually have on socks and such.

My HR just arrived today--with velcro and string. Tried it out for 15 min and it seemed pretty good, and its getting the OBT tonight (overnight backyard test), so if you don't hear from me, its because it works great and I'm still asleep.
