    Share the love UQ!

So a bit ago I posted my new DIY climashield TQ
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...soon-to-by-UQ)
And stated that an UQ was soon to come..... WELL HERE IT IS!

Just like the TQ it has an outer shell made of 1.1 ACU ripstop nylon and an inner shell of black 1.0 HyperD.

    The climashield is 3.6oz
    Finished dimensions are 45 x 84.

I used my left over climashield to make a nice little pillow. It's stuffed pretty tight the last seam to hold it closed was a pain!!

Nice work. That pillow looks very firm! That's how I like my pillows. It is a pain to close up. Great job.

Yes it was a big pain... That last seam took 4 hands, 2 elastic bands, and who knows how many pins to hold everything in place. Then I had to figure out how to get the material to the needle with all the fluff in the way.

So thinking of making one with argon 90 and Climashield 2.5 for a 3 season underquilt...full length like yours but maybe a bit wider...did you use shock cord for the perimeter and use ripstop for the suspension pocket?...do you need to "quilt" the underquilt to hold the insulation in place?...will argon 90 be an ok inner/outer shell? Also the Climashield is sold by the yard so how much did you have to order to get the 84" length?

I ended up ordering 3 yards of 2.5 (for TQ) and 3 yards of 3.6(for UQ). If Dutch had more 3.6 in stock I would have just ordered 5 yards of 3.6 and had less waste. But I got the last 3 yards he had at the time.

I do not have channels on the sides. Both ends just have ripstop channels with shock cord tied to the sewn in paracord suspension loops.

I added a pic of the corner of the UQ. I pulled out the shock cord a bit so you could see both where it is tied to the loop and where it goes into the channel. When its not pulled out like this the shock chord is almost invisible as most of the knot is pulled into the channel.

I'm guessing argon 90 would be fine as i have seen others on here use it, but I have never seen any myself, nor do I know anything about it other than what I've read in this forum.
