That's also an option and a good one at that.

It is certainly possible that your group could reserve from the spaces available at Springfield and/or share if more space is needed. My suggestions above were under the premise that you keep the entire group together and sharing could have everyone close but maybe not all at the same site or two.

If you decide to go the Springfield route, please make sure to keep Rat posted on where folks are as he may have some plans for placing folks that none of us know about right now.

Also, please go ahead and update the planning spreadsheet if you haven't already.

Been working on some ideas for the pot luck dinner. What are folks making? I would like to come up with something that will complement some of the other dishes.

I know that Texas longhorns will be fixing up a big DO full of BBQ chicken and I expect we'll see a Triple + 2 Chocolate cake if history repeats itself too.

Well campers, we are right at 2 months out, so how are we doing?

There are 108 signed up on the planning spreadsheet.

By my count and the bank of Oldgringo, there is only one site still available in Springfield Loop.

If you haven't paid for a site there, don't worry, there are several folks who have indicated that they are open to sharing so check out the spreadsheet and note it accordingly. There are also plenty of sites in the neighboring Cooks Ferry section as well.

Please add yourselves and/or update your info on the spreadsheet. The info there is really helpful for planning purposes so please check it out.

This is a great time to review the FAQs and ask anything that may not be addressed there.

It's also a great time to continue the conversation about food. :-)

I have a question about the potluck dinner on Saturday. Are there any meat grillers that would like some help in providing thier dish? Feeding 100+ people can get a little expensive even with chicken and hamburgers. I would be willing to either bring extra meat or help pay for it. I think that might the best way I could help with the potluck.

Sharing the load on the grill with someone is a great idea. I bet there may be some folks open to that. Thank you for tossing that out there.

As far as feeding 100+ getting expensive, that's true it can if just a few are fixing food for everyone. What has made this Saturday night feast work so well over the years is that each person/family contributing prepares/provides enough food for themselves and a few more. All that added up feeds everyone. In the past we have had over a dozen tables covered with breads, desserts, side dishes, and a couple of dozen dutch ovens with all of the above and a few main entrees.

It has definitely been a culinary adventure in the past. We've had vegan dishes and rabbit, pasta and BBQ, cobblers and roasted veggies, stews and chills, beans and cornbread, cakes and cobblers, (yes I repeated cobblers since I really like them), cactus and fruit, brats and tortillas, Mac n cheese and brussels sprouts, and the beat goes on.

One thing to keep in mind when planning your food and menus is that Saturday breakfast is already taken care of for you. Just show up at Uncle Mike's kitchen Saturday morning for breakfast tacos. There will be plenty so come hungry.

Now back to the Saturday night pot luck...

    Let's keep the ideas flowing!
