Laying out all my gear today, really excited to get back outdoors and to see some old and new friends!
no one has asked to join me in my site yet. I will share. See you people thursday nite. The weather is looking real good.
Me too, absolutely!
Mmmmm onion bread. The only bread I like better is onion bread spiked with jalapeños and cheese.
Me to buddy!
Thanks for putting that out here hikehunter! I actually sent a PM to every person who was listed on the planning spreadsheet as wanting to share but not yet set with someone who had pd for a site to encourage them to PM those offering to share. I did that a couple of days ago, but apparently that hasn't stimulated any action.
While I'll not call anyone out, as of this posting, there are 5 folks listed as needing a place to stay and at least 10 offering to share. Either folks have worked out something off line and not posted it or no one is really trying within the simple system that's been made available.
Texas Fall Group Hang 2019
Looking back to last year to reminisce and forward to post Covid-19 hangs in 2021
Texas Hammock Hangers Facebook Group
I polled the audience of the Texas Hammock Hanger Facebook page with the following question:
What should a first timer remember to bring to a group hang other than food, hammock, tarp, insulation, and personal stuff, that they might not normally take backpacking?
And here are the responses in no specific order:
1. Camp chair
2. Ear plugs
3. Cooler for beverages
4. Layered clothes or jackets, (It's car camping so weight doesn't matter.)
5. Sit pad for butt and back insulation on the camp chair - It's November
6. Warm hat, gloves, and rain gear (sitting around is colder than hiking)
7. New gear to learn how to use it
8. Camera
9. Note pad/book and pen- yep I wish I'd taken notes about that cool thing I can't remember
10. Dog, yes, you can bring your best friend but keep it leashed and quiet at night
11. Firewood - there is no gathering downed stuff in State Parks
12. Flashlight/headlamp
13. Comfortable camp shoes
14. Old/extra gear to put on the pay it forward table or just plain donate to the Tree Prizes on Saturday
15. towels to wipe chairs off if it rains.
16. Favorite camp cup for tasty beverages
What else needs to be added to the list?

Brute is trying to make it. I know I haven't been real active, but I still lurk. Last minute changes have allowed me to come this weekend. I think I have contacted everyone I need to to get in.
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...
Buy, Try, Learn, Repeat
For those that are cooking major grub for the pot luck.....give me a hint to what it is as I shall bring some of the extras.....
had some tree trimming to do so I have a little firewood for the chair ring area.
I have a good stock of paper plates, plastic ware, small coffee cups, etc.
I am bringing my new AMOK hammock and hope to dial it in this weekend. I want UGQ to look it over to see the best way to do a UQ.
Sorry folks but Jan and I won't be able to make it. Site #30 is paid for so it can be used by who ever needs some space. See you next year.
