If TW is goin, I'll be there for sure!!

A head count would really help make this happen. If everyone that's going can come in that would help tremendously. From the sounds of it we need a definite headcount, as that will determine if we need a group site or not.

The sooner we know, for sure, who's going the better.

I'm interested, but unfortunately unable to totally commit. 25th-27th may work best. I have done a couple of overnighters with the bike, but do not have panniers yet. It is my next investment strategy

Totally understandable. Thank you very much for posting. After setting a weekend, getting a head count is the most important task in organizing these group hangs. It is also by far the most difficult.

    25th-27th may work best.
That is very fortunate as that is the weekend that was decided upon. Fortunate for you, or fortunate for us, has yet to be determined!!

Oh snap! I'm already going to be there.

A head count would really help make this happen.
    Yup.

If everyone that's going can come in (and post in this thread) that would help tremendously.
    Yes it would!!

From the sounds of it we need a definite headcount, as that will determine if we need a group site or not.
    EXACTLY!!

The sooner we know, for sure, who's going the better.
Yepper. End of season so a lot of people are trying to get out while the weather is still good. Also many campgrounds are closing some loops, which greatly reduces the number of options open to us.

The hold up for the last couple of weeks has been exactly what Goobie posted: unsure of the headcount I have been uncertain whether to reserve 1 or 2 regular campsites or a group site.

With only 6-8 people having expressed interest, seemed like going with a regular site would be the way to go. I have three in mind. Each of those three not only has plenty of trees, it has several more available sites with trees nearby. If we end up with 6-12 people spending the night, or decide we prefer Pinewoods over Hickory Woods, then we would be better off reserving two regular sites that are right next to each other. If 12-20 are spending the night, then we would be much better off reserving a group site.

Speaking of group sites, all of those at Pinewoods were reserved before I started this thread. As of right this instant, only group sites K, L and N are open at Hickory Woods in the Whitewater Lake campground. I would list them in that order as far as preference for our use.

By the way, the Hickory Woods area is mature oak forest. Think Shelter #3 from our last outing. Contrast that with most of the Pinewoods sites being in Red Pine forest. Much less undergrowth.

Group sites allow up to 20 campers and cost $40/night. Regular sites allow up to 6 campers and cost $18/night. Yup, fees went up on July 31st 2015.

    Soooo... What say ye??

I am OK with either site. Seems like picking two adjacent regular sites make more sense based on information above. I do however prefer hardwoods rather than pine, but whatever works for me.

    Thumbs up

By my count from the posts in the two threads, these people are interested:

    (In alphabetical order)
    Amarian
    BananaHammock
    Daveysnowis
    Dux
    Goobie
    Ixzndr
    Mixter
    Oms
    Paper
    TheLevitator
    Tumbleweed

There are usually a few last minute cancellations and additions with each group outing. I would rather have too much room than not enough. Thus I decided the most prudent course of action would be to go with a group site.

    Therefore...
