The little SS 0.5 size s-biners look really inviting to use to attach a structural ridgeline from one end of the hammock to the other. They are rated for a measly 3 pounds, which is certainly quite a bit under what they will fail at. So after looking on the internet for someone who had tested them to failure I decided to sacrifice one of mine for science.

Not precise, nor terribly scientific, but I was able to put a large portion of my weight on one before failure. For reference I weigh 140#. Clearly not sufficient for a structural ridgeline, but a lot more than the rating.
