    It Survived But...

Hennessey Hex Tarp survived its second big storm but it got left in porch mode. I had one end higher than the other, but not enough I guess or it wasn't tight enough.

The tarp was sturdy enough not to rip which is good but now the tarp seems pretty loose with a big dip in the tarp where the 1" x 36" puddle of water was standing for about 20 minutes.

Will it tighten bag up once it dries back out and rests?

Another noon question, I know... just don't want to think it's is ruined after one really good test.

Far as I know the HH Hex is a pretty sturdy tarp. I don't do porch mode, but I can't imagine 20 minutes of rain ruining a brand new tarp, even if there was a big puddle. The HH Hex is sturdier than that, in my opinion.

Left my Superfly (thinner sil-ny) up in porch mode during an overnight storm and had a large puddle in the morning. No worries there. Also have the HEX and theres no way a puddle is ruining that thing. Your poles would bend before that tarp would be compromised, I think.

Its a good tarp. One thing that happened to me is they use the edging to attach the rings. The stitching creating the loops for the rings ripped out on me when we had a good rain storm with some major wind. Ripped the rings out of the loops. I tied the guys to the ripped part to get through the weekend.

When I got home; I sewed on some loops using some 1" nylon for the tie outs. Fixed the weak link for me on this tarp. You can also add some shock cord to your guys and that will help for staving off the high wind whipping that caused my tarp failure.

I really like the coverage. It was my first "big" tarp and made for a comfortable coverage.

ive never had any problems with stretching and spend six months sitting under a hennessy hex tarp in peruvian rainy reason to no ill effect.

cant see why the loops would be coming out... seems odd... maybe try sticking a rock in a pinch of material just above the loops and then wrapping a bit of the chord round it before sending it off to the tree.... cant see how the rock would get pulled through the material...

I have the Hennessy Hex, Monsoon and a Superfly. They have all been good tarps. I have never had any issues with any of them and they have been heavily used in both rain and snow.

Nylon does sag when wet. That is normal for the material. Nothing to worry about.
