Cool Hanging in my Bear Taco

It's been a while since I've had time to tinker with hammocks. This summer however has had me using my hammock quite often. I'm already amassing a list of fabric I plan to purchase. I certainly like seeing other people's setups so I figured I'd share as well.

Sunrise this morning. Made some quick gathered end hammocks for my kids on either side of me. Their first night camping in a hammock.

Spent a week in the high uintahs last month. The tarp, poncho, and blanket were made by my friend Perry from wilderness innovation. The hammock I loving refer to as my bear taco is a DIY double layer, channel end. The underquilt is a home brew as well. I'm using climashield for the insulation. Temps got down into the high 30's at night but I kept warm with just the UQ and blanket. I'm experimenting to see if there is a simpler way to attach the UQ rather than shock cord rigging.

BTW, how to embed large photos rather than little thumbnails?

I love it, "bear taco". My one buddy is literally going to fall out of his hammock laughing when I call it that. We're definitely going to start using this term regularly.

That's a pretty nifty dog hammock you have there. I am going to have to look into making one myself. Maybe it will keep the little rascal out of my hammock instead.

Next time you sew something, you should try to incorporate some multi-cam.

hahaa, I know, it's terrible. But I figure if I'm gonna buy fabric I might as well be consistent.

I agree with moose85 I just love "bear taco" I live in florida, and for the first time in over 20 years the state has issued a bear hunt for the state, because of the increase in the human population infringing on the bears habitat.

Sometimes I really do feel like a bear burrito in the north woods but at least I'd go comfy lol.

"Taco" is my trail name, a friend of mine gave it to me because I was the only hammock guy in the group. Ive since converted one other guy to hanging, and we've had another join the group on and off, but my name has stuck. I find it funny that the tent people call us "bear tacos", as if their tents would hold up any better than ours to a bear attack. Unless your tent is made of kevlar, i don't think so.
