In case you forgot or didn't know, a great way to cool off on those windless and warm nights is to use your bandana and give yourself a spongebath leaving yourself a little damp. The hammock will pull the moisture and heat off of you with convection and cool you off as good as a quick AC. Add the smallest breeze and you could even get a refreshingly slight body chill for a few moments.

Glad your better than February. Did this hang hit the spot or what?
    Thanks!

Yes, it was great. The best part was how well my gear worked and being so light. Of course, gun, knife, and tactical light were on my belt. And I carried extra water because it was so hot. But beside that the base weight of the pack was 8 pounds.

    I find that amazing.

Yes, the bandana was my AC and one reason I ran out of water.

Nothing like communing with Mother Nature to recharge the soul. Glad everything turned out OK. Great pics. Just did a section of the Long Trail with my son. Life doesn't get any better then spending time with family.

    Thanks, Alan.

Will drive out into the country to see the meteor showers tonight.

Very sorry to hear that. Glad you are well enough for a trek again.
The Ti fire helper worked very well but its getting all sooty was a problem when it came time to pack up. Got to figure out a solution.
Looks like it worked very well for you. Have you though of making a sleeve from tyvek envelopes like the one your food bag is made of? I'm still using the original one I DIY'd many years ago for my SS EmberLit stove. Tough stuff.
Coyotes, two owls, various insects, frogs at the muddy pond, and a night jar sang me to sleep.
    Quite the chorus!
Sightings: a deer, four juvenile turkey, two chaparrals (heard their unique call for the first time), two covey of quail (one Bob White, one Blue), a lot of dove, and a horned lizard.
    Nice!!

Yes, have my Emberlit in a Tyvek case, along with a pair of gloves. It is great stuff and a very good idea for the fire helper. Thank you, Dux!

We're having a cool spell this week. It's only in the 90s again after a week of triple digits.

I'm always looking for novel ways to keep my food away from the critters, and I think you've got a pretty good idea there with your food bag.

I'm presuming each evening you overnight ship it to your campsite?

Glad you're out on the trail again, Mike! I don't know how you can take that heat. I know what you mean about finding suitable trees to hang from in West Texas. And that's quite an impressive gear list you have! Ditch the shaving kit, lol!
