Now begins my least favorite part. Measuring and cutting. I am a perfectionist so it takes me like 30minutes to measure each line and make sure they are flawless (measure twice, cut once!). I figured out a way to do it all on my living room floor, I just have to measure the tarp in four pieces. Hopefully my loving wife will continue to love me for the next week while we have no living room floor.

Lol. I take up our dining room floor with my projects. I have my wife, dog and cat trained not to step on my fabric when it's laid out!!

Can't wait to see the progression on this project!

I finally got a few hours to measure and cut the first half! This is the first project that I am using the scaled-down drawing for direct measurements. It is much easier to work with metrics when doing ratios so I am getting pretty good with understanding standard vs metrics.

AHH! I ran into an issue. The tarp is asymmetric so when I measured the access material for the second half's top portion I assumed it would be the same for the first half's but I was wrong! The material is like 1" short so hopefully I will be able to work something out.

    The sewing begins!

Top portion mated with the lower portion

    The sewing gets more complicated

At this point it just looks like a bunch of weird angles and crappy sewing

Sewing on a friction saver to protect the silnylon at the webbing entry point

Testing out the size to see if I measured everything correctly!

Sewing the cinch bottom. The nylon cord was replaced with shockcord.

Final fit test before I reinforce all of the stitches and add the windows

    View from the bottom

    View from inside

Now it is time to start cutting up my old tarp to build the windows. It will be difficult to make the first snip but I am excited with how the colors will look together

Hopefully the windows will be finished by Wednesday so that I can fricken go camping! Stay tuned for the final pictures.

Hmmmm, Park spoke ruler. nice touch.

I'll be following this; it's really a cool project, but I'm content to hang much closer to the ground!!
