Cuben Fiber 9 x 7 rectangle tarp tied diagonally

Hi I am relativly new to hammock camping and wondered will it be ok to use a Cuben Fiber 9 x 7 foot rectangle tarp tied diagonally over my hammock (HH ultralight backpacker), tying it diagonally will give me the 11 foot of ridgeline cover and with triangle/diamond shapes either side, i thnk it will work but of course this tarp has no catenary cut and i wonder if it will be able to get taut, and also have good rain coverage, any advice would be great thankyou in advance

I use my DIY 9x6 CF tarp that way but in conjunction with a hybrid bug net/weather sock.

that picture makes that tarp look huge! I was starting to wonder if a 9 x 7 tarp was a bad desicion and just too small but now im reconsidering!

I do notice though that along the ridgeline it looks a little loose is that because it is not a catenary cut and just too hard to get the cuben fiber taut? is there any tips for getting a rectangle tarp taut? ie tying sides first etc

9x7 would be a very nice size.

    CF is taut and tough.

Here are better pictures of what makes the minimalist tarp work for me: What Is That Thing?

My pack is a Gossamer Gear Murmur that I bought here. It was a fantastic bargain.
