.9 or .6 outer shell for UQ

Does an Under Quilt justify the need for .9+ for the outer layer. I understand the need for a stronger top/outer layer on a Top Quilt for durability as it gets things thrown on it, abrasion from use, and so on. That said my UQ doesn't get this abuse, I don't hang low enough to drag and it is the first thing packed and last out.

So, does the marginal weight difference justify having or not having the "heavier" outer shell?

I like the heavier outer shell for the added wind resistance it provides in an UQ. While it may be marginal, it still makes a difference IMO.

I don't see any need for the heavier material. .67 works great for me. I only use the heavier stuff if I'm trying to save cost.

I'm all for 0.67 for outer shells on both top and underquilts

Boulder v7, I would be able to justify a UQP at that point if the winds are high enough. I pitch low and try to be on the leeward side.

Not enough difference in weight in the material in an underquilt to make much of a difference. I went with .9 cause I wanted camo. .9 black on onside.
