Are you going to the Triumph gathering? It's that week and I'll be there hanging at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge.

We usually stay at Lake Powhatan and combine mountain biking with "city" stuff. It's about 10-15 minutes easy drive from downtown and just minutes from the BRP and Biltmore. It has a pretty lake, hiking/biking trails, and is adjacent to the arboretum. Facilities are clean and nice. We like to have a few adult beverages in the evening, and by following the DDSS principle (don't do stupid s***) have avoided any ranger issues. Lots of trees on all of the sites, as far as I recall.

Maybe like a half hours drive, but Mills River campground is nice and it's not far from the Sierra Nevada brewery. There's also Davidson River campground in Brevard if you like fly fishing, it's world class fishing!
