    SUL Momentum M50 hammock 6.05oz.

For sale is my SUL(Super Ultra Light) Momentum M50 fabric hammock made for me by forum user Raiffnuke. It has sewn channel ends and is not gathered. Here is my original review thread from when I first received the hammock from Raiffnuke. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ght=barbermike

This is by far the lightest full size hammock I have ever seen. It is made from Momentum M50 fabric. Its has Dynaglide whoopie slings and Dynaglide SRL(Structural Ridgeline). It also has the Knotty Mod. Total weight including the dynaglide whoopies, ridgeline, and stuff sack is ONLY 6.05 Ounces!!! Size is 11 feet x 56 inches. Color is a deep forest green. Suggested max weight is around 200 pounds. But here is a thread with the same fabric as a DL hammock being tested to 310 pounds without failure. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...-Neutron-Ultra

Here is a link to the original forum thread where Raiffnuke created one of the first hammock out of the M50 with subsequent testing. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ke-M50-Hammock

Link to thread where Blaktee created what I believe to be the first M50 hammock.

Testing was done by other forum members with this fabric and hammock set up. the conclusion was that somewhere around 200 pounds was a safe weight limit. I say that and I weight in right at about 200 lbs dry and have had no problems with this setup. Another limiting factor is the dynaglide whoopies used for supension. which if I'm not mistaken is generally regarded at a 200 pound limit. I am trying to find the thread from about 2 years ago when the other forum members were testing this setup but so far have been unsuccessful.

my searchfoo was with me tonight. I found the original thread where Raiffnuke detailed making one of the first hammock out of the M50 and subsequent testing. So far all I have found is Raiffnuke's suggestion that it is limited to 200 pounds. again that was really just a guesstimate

Your searchFoo is indeed strong. I'm just a hair and a few pints over the limit. Thanks for showing that, I was not sure on the rating.

    SUL Momentum M50 hammock 6.05oz.

How old is it and how many night have been spent in it? The thing about a 200 lb weight limit is you have to account for cloths, quilt and any extras you sleep with. I'm 175 but would be at the limit with all my extras I believe. I must say it's very tempting but from some of the posts I've read this fabric is only good for @ 20 hangs. Do you know if that's true?

I received the hammock in February of 2013. I have used it for maybe 5-6 overnight trips. I never let anyone else hang in it. I'm always cautious to not have metal on my pants or anything sharp with me or in pockets when I hang in it. I last used this hammock at the beginning of May 2015 for a single overnight trip. I currently weigh right at 200lbs without adding in clothes, quilt, or anything else and have had zero issues with it holding me.

As for the "only lasting 20 hangs" I would have to refute that. I would say as long as you are cautious and treat the hammock as what it is, super ultralight material, it should last well beyond that from what I have seen so far. I would say the key is treating it well. Making sure you have nothing that could potentially wear or poke the material, don't plop down into the hammock instead sit gently, ect.
