Greetings... and my 1st time posting.

Been registered here for quite some time... just never posted anything up until now. But it's more of a question than adding info for Y'all. I'm heading out from Vegas next Sunday the 16th... and wanted to know of any good camping spots half way to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon off the 40 Hwy...??? Seems like the only place not Barren is at Kaibab National Forest. Was hoping for something within a couple of hours drive from Henderson... being that we will be leaving there Sunday around 4 pm. Wanted to set up camp with some daylight left... and would rather hang than go onto the ground. Kaibab is a bit farther than I would like to go during that time of day... but if anyone knows of a Good place (or halfway decent)... it would be Much Appreciated! BTW... it's just for Sunday night. We are Grand Canyon bound (first leg of our journey)... and we've got that leg of our trip covered.

    Thank You... and GOD Bless.

Welcome - I too hope someone can assist you.
Not what you asked, but I've stayed at a Grand Canyon NP campground where there were lots of trees, but I don't know the current hammock hanging rules. Also, I stayed at a huge KOA East of the big hole (along I-40). I carry a Turtle dog hammock stand when car camping.

I'd re-post your questions under 'trip planning' for the state you want to camp in - you'll get a better response.

Thank You for the well wishes. We ended up staying in Saligman, AZ. No hanging from the hammock at this stage of our trip... Grrr!!! But the town is pretty cool. It's registered as historic on Route 66. They based the town and some of the vehicles in the Disney Car's movie.
