lilricky has moved on to Texas, Tuck to Georgia. The group lost some and seems to be gaining others. It will be fun welcoming new faces to the group. Sorry long time members, you may have to listen to some of the stories again. HangNyak says he can repeat most of them from memory. He needs a memory like mine.
Grinder hasn't posted up yet but we've spoken and it looks like we will be there.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
Whelp... Looks like the training has been moved. So unless something comes up between now and the hang, I am planning on being there. Probably come I am the West side Friday evening.
You keep on telling those stories. I'm getting old and the memory bank is failing. You can put me down as on the fence for this one. The dehydrator has been getting a workout the past couple of weeks. Getting ready for the season to start and can't wait to get back at it. We'll see how the weather looks as we get closer. Just don't want to swim in my own sweat.

The poor pond is shrinking and being taken over by some kind of grass. Anyone have a weed razer or something similar they can bring along? Maybe we could do a little trail/site maintenance?
Also, the site has been picked over of about every scrap of firewood. We need someone to air-drop in a few cords of wood or maybe a chainsaw or two. There are numerous standing dead oaks around but the size is far beyond what a small folding handsaw and hatchet will handle.
I'll be jobless come mid-September so I'll likely be there.
Any way to get a lifted jeep back that way? I have a 1/4 ton M416 trailer that I could bring a load of wood in.... I have a bunch of oak split from where I cleared property.
Hidden Pond Short is an old road bed that runs most of the way to the site but the underbrush closes into more of a game trail in many sections. Last hike out we saw where someone knocked over one of the wooden posts that block the entrance and drove in maybe a mile. It looks like they got tired of oak scrub scraping down both sides of their truck and turned around for home.
I may make this as well, have to watch the weather. I'm with Ron on the swimming in my own sweat thing.

I can't figure out exactly where this is. I used mapquest which is of course highly inadequate. Do you have a trail guide or other map which details the places you are talking about?

If you're using a GPS or want to use Garmin's free Basecamp software to print out a map, you can check out my site below and download the Florida Trail GPS file. It has waypoints for all the above sites and alot more.
