Well... I'm off to get an Amok. The thing that did it for me was Shug's excellent sales quote in his review thread... "Did not want to like it ...but i do I say, I do."
I may need to redo my Turtledog tripods (my posts were cut to 6'4" so I'm thinking they might be a tad too short) but we'll see.

- trying to get the hang of it -
I want to give a big shout out to DBasi for sending his Draumr to us to test on the stand. We hung it up and played around with it, and found it to be quite stable. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a learning experience with the pad... We had a NeoAir XLite that we used for testing, which is way too small. If you intend to buy a Draumr, you will absolutely want a full-size pad.
I do have a few pointers... Firstly, you'll probably want to use a continuous loop on the stand, and clip the Amok carabiner to that. I would not suggest slipping the carabiner directly to the S-hook, and I worried that wrapping the carabiner around the pole and clipping it to the strap would damage the carabiner or strap, so I did not do this. Additionally, you will really need to crank down the cinch buckles to make sure the Draumr is tight, or it will hang a bit low (at least for my liking). We did not try it with the extension piece, as that would have been over kill. In hindsight, I wish I had tried it out with only two of the ridgepoles, as I believe that may have been optimal, if it is wide enough.
Anyway, here are a few pictures.
