    CPAP location question

Where are you putting your CPAP machine when using it out on the trail?

I don't take mine. I use either a SnoreGuard mouth piece or ProVent patches over my nostrils.

I either set it in my camp chair next to my hammock, or I have used a mesh drawstring bag attached to my ridge line down by my feet. I put a small prussik loop on the ridge line and clipped the bag to that so it wouldn't slide. I use a 3 lb Qi-Infinity Lithium Ion battery for power. I got a mesh bag large enough to hold the machine and the battery. This works ok, but just setting the machine & battery in my camp chair next to my hammock it a lot easier. I did experiment with an SLD mini hammock (usually used for boots) attached to my ridge line, but I never could get the balance right.

I have the advantage of carrying my cpap on a raft or in a kayak, so it's easy to bring it. Finding the Li Ion batteries and a compact solar panel for recharging has been a big plus.

Chair next to the hammock when car camping, if the weather is clear.
Otherwise hanging from the ridgeline at either end. Foot end is easier, it's out of the way a bit more.

I have gear loops at either end of my hammocks, so I clip the mesh bag to the ridgeline as well as a gear loop and that keeps it in place.

I put mine on a chair next to my head. I have a bug net and it looks pretty comical with the hose attached to my hammock When I'm without power I use a neoprene strap that goes around my head.

I don't take mine. I find I am so tired after a day of hiking, I could die in my sleep and not know it.

I figure that rafting & kayaking are the exact times that I need my cpap the most. I sure wish there were more options for light weight batteries that don't cost so much. Mine was $219, pricey, but still better that the $300 ones that the cpap websites sell. I can get two nights, plus more if I have enough sun for my solar panel to recharge.

I one thing I found with everything at the foot of an 11 foot hammock.....I could use a longer hose. If it's far enough away not to kick it with my feet, then the hose is at it's max.

It is, just joking but in reality, I don't bring mine. It's just to big and heavy as mine is actually a BIPAP machine

Question: Does using a longer hose and routing it under the top quilt sufficiently warm the incoming air. I probably won't see temps going under 25*.
