    Cold knees when side sleeping

I just got back from a weekend of waterfall hunting, and had some problems side sleeping. I was using a BB, 3 season yeti, GoLite Ultra 20, and a short piece of wally world blue ccf.

It got down to about 38 or 40 degrees, which was well within the range of my quilts, but if I tried to side sleep I invariably smashed either my knees or my butt against the hammock and ended up with a cold spot. I ended up just cramming a shirt down under my knees, but I figured there's a better way to deal with this. Any ideas?

    you handled it perfectly...
one of the shortcomings (sorta) of the lighter, 2/3 UQ is lack of coverage when you get wide (fetal position)
any other insulation will do...clothes, a piece of ccf, reflectix, hat, etc.

Out of curiosity, what is the secret to storing that stupid blue ccf? I roll mine, but then when you put it in the foot of the hammock it tries to roll back up and causes problems. Is there some way to fold the stuff without destroying it, or do I need to just keep fighting the curl like I've been doing?

I agree with Pan. There are many advantages to a full length UQ, one of which would solve your problem. As far as rolling the CCF and the curling issue, try turning the pad upside down in the hammock so the pad has to try and curl downward which it cant do as well

I made a little folding 2 pocket spe. Both pockets are the size of the back of my pack. Unfold and enjoy!

Pan, believe me, if I had a pile of money laying around somewhere I'd be buying every quilt you guys offer. Brandon made me a deal on this one that I've not seen offered since, and I've been very happy with it, but I'd have one of everything if I could afford it.

RT: I've done it both ways, and they both cause the hammock to curl up in strange ways. I usually do put the curl down.

ETA: lenle, that's a great idea! I might have to try that.

that would fix this problem Pan...of course, then we would have to have the "downsides to full length UQ" conversation

You can re-roll in the opposite direction of the roll before you put it in the hammock to work out the memory. Unfortunately, the blue CCF has a lot of memory. I use a Thermarest Ridgerest which seems to have less memory.
