Is it worth noting that if you intend to store your tarp in your 'snake skins' you need to consider where you will store your tarp. Mesh tubes are great if your tarp lives outside your pack but waterproof tubes will keep a wet tarp isolated from the rest of your gear if you intend putting it in your pack.
I guess that sort of makes me a belt and suspenders kind of guy...
I use mesh sleeves to make it easy to string up the tarp and to keep it furled when the sky is (at least temporarily) clear. When I pack up, I stuff the whole works into a small sil nylon stuffsack with the two split rings at the top. That extra stuff sack not only weighs practically nothing but it make for a very compact item in the pack. Works for me but, of course, everybody has to HYOH.
Well said and I will 100% agree with this, recently I purchased a Sun/Water-Proof "Sun Shield" from Hammock Bliss, it is 120-inches x 7-inches and is Solid Black in color. The shape is snake skin; however both ends can be cinched up, like a Bishop Bag.

Think of it as Stealth Packing...

Has anybody used the Mountain Goat skins for a ProFly XL? It's a 13 footer and I wonder if her 12' skins would pass muster or if I should get a custom quote.
I have 4 sets from Mountain Goat. Each has pockets for the ridge line. Tell her what tarp you have and she will get you all set.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
