    Tyvek too noisy!

I had a nice little overnight trip with my son this past Thursday-Friday to the Loyalsock State Forest Ketchum Run area. I took along some Tyvek to try as a ground sheet as I've seen and read a lot of people use this. However for me it was really noisy, especially getting up in the middle of the night to answer the call. For how quiet the woods were it made me feel like I was walking on bubble wrap in a library! Plus the stark white in the middle of all my olive drab and camo...well, now I'm being anal. Anyway does anyone use anything different that blends in and isn't as crinkly/noisy as Tyvek? I was thinking maybe a piece of silnylon or something, maybe even just a piece of extra hyper d fabric.

And I remember at least one thread about dyeing tyvek...they had "meh" results but I remember it looked better than just the stark white. I'm not searching for the thread...May the Google Fu be strong in you.....

Washing is unnecessary. Just crumple the Tyvek into a ball a few times, roll it up, twist it, deform it. In less than 10 minutes your Tyvek will be soft and quiet, The stark white...sorry, I have no suggestion how to fix that.

When I go backpacking I bring along a "foot pad" made from 1/4" evasote closed cell foam. Like what Arrowhead sells or i think you can get a roll of it from Jacks-r-better. For me the "foot pad" doubles as my ground sheet when I'm not using it for added insulation or as my ground pad for sitting by the campfire. Mine which is roughly 22"x15" is 1.15oz and you could use the 1/8" thick version for even lighter pad.

I have carried a piece of tyvek so long it is about as worn as it can get. Just give it time and the situation will resolve itself! LOL

I was at Ketchum run this weekend myself, I also had my Tyvek ground sheet along. Like others have said, it does soften up, and with more use I think the bright white fades a bit. Or maybe it's just stained from use, either way it works.

A cut to size medical "blue pad" works well too...if you like blue instead of white
