CCF in a single layer hammock?

I have a Thermarest RidgeRest pad that I am thinking about using in a single layer hammock.
I assume most folks using pads put them in a 2 layer, but I'd rather just have a single.

Does anybody have any experience with a similar setup?
    Any info would be appreciated.

A lot of people use a CCF pad in a single layer hammock. We just get drowned out by the UQ chatter. I prefer the RidgeRest to the WallyWorld blue CCF. Just as warm, smaller, lighter and most importantly: moves around in the 'mock a whole lot less.

Using a CCF has worked best for me by having a layer (blanket or whatever) between me and the pad. Getting into the hammock and getting settled in takes a little more doing for us than the UQ guys. Still, we all end up in slumberland about the same time and wake up equally refreshed.

    Happy Trails!!

Pads do work plenty fine in a single layer. That's how I and many others started out when first getting off the ground. The double layer hammocks came in later to help with the fidgetiness of the situation.

If your still having problems, use an SPE(segmented pad extender). This will help to keep the pad in place while adding a few extra pieces of pad where it's needed for cold weather like shoulders and thighs.

Good luck in your pad quest.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I started out using a SL hammock with CCF pad and within a few months upgraded to a DL. The DL is (for me) superior in all respects. 1. The pad stays pretty much in place. The second layor allows you to move around on top of the pad without moving the pad with you. With the SL I had to readjust every time I got out of the hammock because you're directly on it. 2. It's more comfortable with a flatter lay than my SL (less fabric stretch). My SL is now relagated to home only sleeping because I can control the environment in the house.

Oh and after three years with pads I've switched to underquilts. I will still use a pad from time to time, on long trips that have areas with no trees.
